William was appointed as Nuplex Group Technology Manager in March 2008, having previously been European R&D Manager with Nuplex Resins. William holds a degree in chemistry specialising in polymer science, in which he gained post–graduate qualifications. He is based
in the UK.

William’s early technical career spanned several segments of Nuplex’s business focus. These included powder coating, automotive in-mould and industrial coatings with a major UK paint manufacturer, then formulating epoxy resins for composites and structural adhesives. He eventually joined Akzo Nobel leading a team developing solvent-based coating resins and unsaturated polyesters. His exposure to these major segments of Nuplex’s markets provides a unique position to lead the key area of technology within the Group.

Quality standards, co-ordination, and strategic direction of research and development-based activities will be William’s principal areas of Group responsibility.

He will ensure that Nuplex’s R&D capabilities deliver the innovative technologies required to meet the needs of tomorrow’s markets and work closely with Group general managers to achieve their technology-based objectives. An important element will be to maintain academic contacts in areas where critical technologies are grown and developed. This will ensure access to the latest ideas and concepts.

William’s focus will also be to maintain training, succession planning and capital investment in our global research facilities. Pursuant to this, William will directly assume the management of the Nuplex Innovation Centre in Wageningen, The Netherlands, a cornerstone of Nuplex’s technology development.

This also means he is responsible for the Company’s patents, trademarks and regulatory affairs; the management of Nuplex’s intellectual property being a pivotal role given the increasing demands of compliance around the world.
